Selected projects realized by GROUND Lab for or in collaboration with NGOs operating in many different fields such as conservation and human-wildlife conflict resolution, like The Living With Lions Trust and the Lion Guardians Program, as well as Non-profit conservation organizations like the Indianapolis Zoo and Non-profit operating in the fields of communication technologies and the arts such as free103point9 and Eyebeam Art + Technology Center. These projects focus on different challenges ranging from providing electricity and living quarters on the remote flood planes in Kenya to the design and fabrication of an affordable and customizable technology platform for computer vision and real-time GPS tracking. To address these challenges we have developed rugged photovoltaic systems to power a tree-house based research camp, open source lion tracking collars, open source vision tracking applications as well as self-sustaining networks and open, affordable GPS tracking solutions.
