For Urbanscale, GROUND Lab researched, engineered and fabricated a working prototype of Farevalue: an enhanced store-value card. The physical prototype includes an RF based circuit and RF coil for the active transmission of power and data from an RF base unit to a passive RF receiver capable of driving an e-paper display. The Farevalue prototype was designed to show the advantages of using a smart card which can display information thanks to an e-paper display and retain the data until the next interaction. Materials: RF transceivers, Microcontrollers, E-paper display, PCB, supporting hardware and acrylic.
